AnsuR strengthens Disaster Risk Reduction with IGAD/ICPAC

AnsuR strengthens Disaster Risk Reduction with IGAD/ICPAC AnsuR Technologies is proud to have won a contract for IGAD (The Intergovernmental Authority on Development) to strengthening the capacity and awareness of IGAD member states in the use of geospatial technologies for Disaster Risk Reduction (DRR).

The Greater Horn of Africa (GHA) is prone to droughts and floods related to climate extreme events. These disasters have severe negative impacts on key socio-economic sectors of all the countries in the sub-region.

IGAD is an eight-country trade bloc in east Africa. It includes Djibouti, Eritrea, Ethiopia, Kenya, Somalia, South Sudan, Sudan and Uganda.

The IGAD Climate Prediction and Applications Centre (ICPAC), is one of the specialized institutions of IGAD, with the active participation of the member states, has been involved in consultative work to strengthen the Regional Disaster Preparedness and resilience building.

The contract will implement an IGAD disaster monitoring and reporting mechanism in ICPAC through the IGAD-ASIGN tool. The ASIGN server enables rapid mapping and Live Maps, as it was developed with UNOSAT over the last years. The Live Maps server is hosted by UNITAR-UNOSAT in Geneva and will be transferred to IGAD as part of capacity development on DRR.

AnsuR Technologies AS presents a world-class solution for Governments in their efforts to manage a country’s disaster and environmental challenges. Communication and situational awareness is critical to the success of any disaster response and emergency operation. We have been integrating our ASIGN solution with UN (UNOSAT) since 2008, and currently evolving in the GEO-VISION project, co-funded by the European Commission.

AnsuR wins prize again in European Satellite Navigation Competition 2016

AnsuR wins prize again in European Satellite Navigation Competition 2016 Birdeye from AnsuR is this year's winner of the Norwegian part of the European Satellite Navigation Competition ESNC.

October 25 2016, the local winners gathered in Madrid where one of them wins the main prize of 10 000 euros. The local price, which AnsuR now have won, includes a two-month stay for two people at the Nordic Innovation House in Silicon Valley.

ESNC is established to focus on developing new services for Europe's satellite navigation system Galileo.

BirdEye is a novel geo-networking concept. It can specifically be used for small drones (25 kg) combining communication using satellite and terrestrial communications. Combinations will depend on the location and height of the UAV.

BirdEye Networking will at select use of network at various locations for providing optimal performance. The solution also covers live flight and pilot mapping as well as a lighter communication version via a satellite certified smartphone App connected to smaller drones.

About Birdeye
The network is used for transmitting images and streaming data and video in a quality and coding customized geo-location and network conditions. The use of satellite navigation provides position which is essential for the correct network when selected. The correct network learned after the first flight, and conditions will be remembered for the next flight. Coverage Map maintained on a central server and dynamically updated through lessons from previous flights. Examples of use are border controls and surveillance of critical infrastructure. Birdeye includes tracking drone in map and offers dynamic updating of virtual fencing (geo-fencing) and communication with the drone pilot.

Ansur present at World Humanitarian Summit together with Innovation Norway and NOREPS

AnsuR is one of seven Norwegian suppliers of emergency solutions. Together with Innovation Norway and NOREPS we are present when top executives from around the world meet in Istanbul this week on the world's first humanitarian summit - World Humanitarian Summit.

AnsuR participates on Innovation Marketplace of drones for humanitarian operations.

The initiative for the summit comes from UN Secretary General Ban Ki-moon, and the goal of the meeting is to establish a broader ownership and designing a more targeted plan for international humanitarian work. The reason for the summit is a record high humanitarian needs, combined with a huge pressure on resources, climate change and several large and protracted armed conflicts that are not kind to the civilian populations. Roughly 125 million people throughout 37 countries today are in need of humanitarian assistance.

The summit, held in Istanbul on 22 to 24 May 2016, brings together heads of state, donors and recipient countries, the UN and international aid agencies as well as a large number of business representatives. UN Secretary General wants to mobilize for the protection of civilians, conflict resolution and wider collaboration across sectors to alleviate suffering and prevent new crises.
